Gifty Nyarko

In 2004, Gifty was homeless wandering the streets of Kumasi-Ghana.  Gladys Asamani, former Regional Director of Education in Kumasi, provided Gifty with housing through-out high school, and Sankofa gave Gifty a full high school scholarship.  In 2007, Gifty was given a full Sankofa scholarship, including housing, to attend Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).  In June 2010, Gifty graduated from KNUST .  Unfortunately, after graduating, Gifty was, once again, homeless.  Sankofa stepped in immediately and provided Gifty with a single room, in a nice and safe environment, in Kumasi, for five years.

Benedicta Minlah

In 2008, Benedicta was awarded a full Sankofa scholarship to attend Accra Polytechnic in Accra-Ghana.  Housing was not included because Benedicta lived with relatives.  Unfortunately, with no warning, in 2009, Benedicta and her older brother (Augustine) found themselves homeless.  They had a home on Monday and no home on Tuesday.  This happened while Benedicta was in the middle of taking exams.  Sankofa immediately stepped in and provided Benedicta and Augustine with a single room, in a nice and safe environment, in Accra, for two years.
